All students return to onsite learning!

Dear Parents and Carers,

This is just a follow up to last week’s email regarding your children’s return to school next week. We are so excited to be welcoming all of our SPAN students back to school, but realise that the transition back may be causing some stress for some children and some parents.

Enhanced Cleaning:

Please be assured that our school is being cleaned thoroughly twice a day. All toilets, tables, seats, benches, door handles, light switches, outdoor furniture and playgrounds are disinfected between recess and lunch and again after school. Hand sanitisers are installed in every learning area and children will all be washing their hands between lessons and every time they enter the buildings. All staff will be wearing face masks when not in the act of teaching and some may choose to do so in class. Any child who feels more comfortable wearing a face mask certainly may.

Many of your children will have outgrown their uniforms over the past months. Lee has asked me to let you know that you can click and collect from the Rowville Shop over the next week, and that she will be at school on Wednesday from 8:30 – 10:30am as usual from next week BUT please do not worry, or allow your child to worry, if they do not have the correct uniform or school shoes. Let them wear whatever they have and just enjoy being back together with their friends.

Importance of Returning:

It is extremely important that your child does return to school on Monday, particularly if they are anxious. Even one day putting off the return will make it more and more difficult in the long run. Get in touch with the school or your child’s class teacher so that we can put a plan in place to support your child.

Hot Chocolate:

For those very anxious children, we invite them to arrive early (8:30am) and to enjoy a hot chocolate and a chat with their teacher so that they are settled and comfortable before the majority of the children arrive. (P-2 in the MLC kitchen, and 3-6 in the PLC kitchen) For all other children (those who are eager to return) please arrive as close to 8:50 as possible so that your child can go straight to the classroom.

Drop Off and Pick Up:

Week Two – Monday October 12th – Friday October 16th

All students will return to school at the normal time on Monday morning. We ask that all families whose surnames begin with A to L drop off and pick up at the front of the school, on Mossgiel Park Drive, and all families whose surnames begin with M to Z drop off and pick up from the back of the school, in the Barry Simon Reserve carpark.

All teachers will be at school teaching face to face all day every day. Therefore they are unable to provide work for children whose parents choose not to send them back to school. Please ring and talk to Mrs Lucas if this will be an issue.

Unfortunately, although we are very much looking forward to connecting with families again, we must ask you to please be very vigilant with your social distancing at drop off and pick up times. The 1.5 metres distancing regulation must be observed at all times.

Week Three – Monday October 19th – Friday October 23rd

We will be celebrating Book Week. There will be a number of special events happening this week so please check the calendar attached and the digital calendar available through the school app and website.

Friday October 23rd is the Grand Final public holiday and there will be no school on this day.

Week Four – Monday October 26th – Friday October 30th

This will be a normal at school week although there are a couple of special dates to remember, so please check the calendar.
