St Paul Apostle NORTH school provides a number of extra curricular activities and additional student services. St Paul Apostle NORTH students also participate in local community activities.
Swimming tuition is provided as a part of the Prep to 6 curriculum and is compulsory for all students. Swimming lessons are conducted by qualified swimming instructors at the Oasis Swimming Centre at Dandenong, with students receiving eight lessons over a concentrated period.
The Choir is open to students in Grades 3-6. We’ve enjoyed much success with previous performances at Federation Square, Melbourne Museum, nursing homes, Fountain Gate Shopping Centre, Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre, Dandenong Town Hall, Alexander Theatre and even on the Channel Nine – ‘Today Show!’.
Active After School Care
This is a free program which is available from 3:30 to 4:30pm. Students work with a coach and supervising teacher. Soccer, AFL football, circus skills, zumba, basketball and dance have been some of the fun activities enjoyed after school.
Whole School production
The Production is a biennial event in which every class participates, combining singing, acting, dancing and performance techniques.
The Talent Quest is an annual event open to students in Years 3-6 including the following performance categories: singing, dancing, instrument playing, acting and stand-up comedy.
Year 5 and 6 students are involved in an annual 3 day camp. The students attend a camp at Mt Evelyn and Sovereign Hill, Ballarat in alternative years. Our camp outcomes relate to developing relationships, friendships, teamwork skills and outdoor adventure activities.
St Paul Apostle NORTH offers the services of a school counsellor. The counsellor is available to work with students, families and staff in a safe and confidential environment supporting issues related to self-esteem, social and behavioural issues, bullying and peer relationships and grief and loss.
Children suffering loss or grief through death or separation are supported through participation in the Seasons program where they journey with companions who have been trained by the Catholic Family Services Program.
Doing in Dramatically
This fun and engaging after school activity develops students’ confidence and presentation skills, through theatre and public speaking. Available on Mondays.
So You Can Dance
The Children’s Dance Academy provides fun physical activity learning a variety dance genres, whilst improving posture, coordination, rhythm and collaborative skills.
Lunchtime Games Club
A lunch time games club is held on Thursdays, where children can play a variety of board games.
School Dental provide dental treatment for students during school hours, in order to be more convenient for you. This treatment is optional and may be covered by the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) for eligible children; please contact Medicare for more information.
The Instrumental program is held on Saturdays. We currently offer lessons in keyboard taught by instrumental teachers.
Students in Years Prep to 6 participate in the Footsteps Dancesport program which runs for 10 weeks with weekly sessions of 60 minutes. The program aims for students to become competent in as many dances as possible. By adjusting the choreography of a number of traditional dance routines, students are able to better understand instructions and successfully learn and complete each dance. The goal is to teach a new dance each week and review those previously taught.
A whole school Disco is held in the school gym once a year. A great time is had by all!
